Hello and how are you? We are
well. It has rained a tremendous amount here. Praise the Lord. We have had
rain every day now for many weeks (it feels like the UK!) and
everything is very green and lush. We give thanks for the rain and pray that
it would reach all parts of this country. We pray too for those who have been
affected by floods. We heard last week that 5 children died (in separate
incidents we believe) in Kibera during torrential rain storms when the flooded
river swept them away. Please remember for their families and for safety
especially when it rains very heavily. The roads are crumbling with the rains
and many sewers are simply not able to cope with the water. This is hazardous
and it makes driving difficult.
Andrew has a busy few weeks ahead.
He is planning to go to Uganda to externally audit the MAF
Uganda programme 13th - 18th June. He will prepare for this over the
forthcoming weeks. This Ugandan Audit with be with Keith Ketchum. Keith and
his wife Rosie have worked for many years with MAF, both here in
Kenya and Ethiopia as well as in Ashford in
Kent. Andrew and Keith will be
joined in Kampala by 2 colleagues from MAF Australia who
will observe the audit.
Also in June, Andrew as MAF Kenya's
Depute Safety Officer and Derek Moores who is a Pilot as well as the MAF K
Safety Officer, are planning some Safety and Quality Awareness Seminars for
staff. Then at the end of June Andrew will be running Security training for
MAF Kenya staff in Nairobi. Between now and the end of June,
Andrew will be preparing for all these
events.
- Give thanks for the work of MAF here
in Kenya and elsewhere around the
world. Pray that what is done through MAF will be pleasing to God and
God-honouring.
- Pray for Andrew and Keith
in Uganda in June. Pray for safety as
they travel and also for Jean and the boys and Rosie and the family when their
husbands are away.
- Remember Andrew with his busy
schedule over the coming weeks. Pray for clarity of thought as he prepares for
the Safety and Quality Awareness Seminars and the Security training. Pray too
for Andrew and Derek as they work together.
Jean's role as Learning and
Development Coordinator is going well. She is following up with delegates who
were on training courses in January, encouraging them to remember what they
learned and trying to help them to put some of it into practice. She has also
been coordinating courses for September and October. Lindsay Rose (who she
job-shares with) has not been in the office recently. Lindsay and Adrian are
expecting their third child and Lindsay has been ordered to rest
more.
- Pray for Jean as she encourages
learning and development in the hanger. Give thanks for the courses that are
scheduled for later in the year.
- Pray too for Lindsay. Pray that
she can rest and relax at home.
The next MAF Fellowship Day is on
the 11th June. Please remember this day and pray as the MAF Kenya family get
together for fellowship, worship and leaning
together.
- Give thanks that we as a MAF family
can be together. Pray for a good day with lots of interaction, fun and that we
might learn more about God.
Andrew J started his AS exams last
week. He has exams on the 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th and 31st May, as well as 2nd
June, 4th, 9th and the last one on the 10th. This weekend Fraser is going on
his Silver President's Award expedition. They leave at 8.30am on Friday 21st
and hope to return on Sunday 23rd May. He is very keen on these events and is
very much looking forward to it. Iain continues to play
football!
- Give thanks for the boys and their
enthusiasm for life and living here. Please pray for Andrew J as he sits his
exams. Pray that he can make the most of his study time. Pray for good and
fair papers and pray too that clarity of thought as he sits the
exams.
Thank you for praying for us.
Thanks for your continued support.
