Andrew is currently in South Africa, carrying out the MAF SA external audit with Keith Ketchum from MAF I (Africa and Europe Region).     They write up a report which documents the audit and which can also be shared further to help decide future interventions or directions for the programme.    Susan Kigen has taken over the  lead role of heading up Quality in Nairobi from Andrew.  He will be looking to see how she is doing and also if he can support her further.    He will be in Nairobi until mid-October.   He will then return to Inverness for some holiday/time off.

The Boyds officially leave MAF at the beginning of November.   They will continue to be financially supported by MAF until the beginning of February.   Andrew and Jean have been looking for employment and have been busy completing application forms for vacancies.   To date neither of us have had any job offers.   Andrew would like to continue to work in aviation and/or quality management ideally though he is also applying for other jobs.   Jean has applied for a few jobs – to work part time.

Jean’s Church of Scotland enquiry process for assessment to train as a Minister in the Church of Scotland is going well with Alistair Murray at Trinity Church.

The boys are well.   Andrew J has started at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Inverness doing a BA in Business Management. Fraser and Iain have settled in well at Culloden Academy.  Fraser is enjoys  attending Cadets with a few friends from school.  Iain has been playing in the Highland United Football Club.   This is a disabilities team and although he is by far the smallest/youngest player, he is enjoying it.   He was selected to play for the team in the national 7- Aside championships on the 28th September in Glasgow.  Iain’s health has been stable now for about 1 year but recently has been feeling ‘twitchy’ around his left cheek.   With the support and guidance of his consultant we have increased his medication but it might need to be increased again.

The Boyd’s shipping from Nairobi is due to arrive soon They heard that the boat had docked and that the boxes are going through the customs phase.   Pray that it will all arrive safely and soon.  Their new e address is   ajafi@btinternet.com but  andrew.boyd@maf-europe.org and jean.boyd@maf-europe.org will continue to work for some time.
