It is so encouraging for us when we see the results of God’s grace in the life of
one of the disabled young people we work with and pray for. Next Thursday,
Bogdan will graduate at the Bible School after 2 years along with Dutu,
Nicu, Mona (who has been supported by the project), Florin (who has been
supported by the project), Dana, Asiria, Anna-Maria, Gabriela, Andrei, Vali,
Ana, Codruta, Raoul, Luca, and Gita. There will be many non-Christian parents
at the graduation so we are really praying for an openness to God. Some
students like Bogdan will stay in Cluj, Nicu will go to work in Scotland, Raoul
and Luca will go to university, Codruta, Mona and Florin will stay on as staff at
the Bible school, and Anna-Maria and Andrei will get married.
It is a very busy time for us because the church is also beginning to grow with
18 new Christians being baptized on Sunday morning, including an 85 year old
man. It is wonderful to see God touching lives. Please pray for a young man,
Romeo, who was at the Daniel Centre who has started to come to church with
us and is really growing in the Lord.
Joy and I have been asked by the church to spearhead the discipleship
programme for new Christians, and the evangelism programme. Initially this
means an ‘Alpha’ style monthly discoverers group for new Christians and
those seeking the Lord, which we will lead (in Romanian), and later when the
part of the school building that was until last Friday rented out to a restaurant
proprietor, is converted, organizing it as a student cafe/outreach/disabled
centre. To assist us with this programme we will be allocated a number of
students to whom we will give counseling and evangelism training. This is a
big responsibility and we would value much prayer over it, but it is also a work
that is very dear to our hearts.
Our work with Alfred, Bogdan, Mihaela, Poli, Mihai, and Ovidiu will continue, as
will English classes, and Joy’s work at Fundatia Sfanta Maria, and the school
for blind children. Bogdan and Alfred will continue to help us where they can,
but our need for an assistant is growing. We often pray for you all, because we
know without your prayers and support the work would not be possible. As we
reach the end of our 7th year here, we remain ever grateful to you and to our
Lord for all that he has done.
