When the path ahead is unclear

“…Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

Proverbs 3:5

To trust God when the path before us isn’t clear, praying that God would guide us, give us courage and lead us on the right path in our life.

Bible Reading – Proverbs 3:3-10 (NIV)

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
    in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
    and nourishment to your bones.

Honor the Lord with your wealth,
    with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
    and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Reflect & Pray

When we walk along an unfamiliar path, not knowing where it might lead, we have no idea what is ahead. What might the terrain be like? What if the sun is in our eyes and we can’t see exactly where the path might be leading, we might not be able to see ahead. We have to choose whether to journey on, though the way ahead may be unknown. In our walk of faith, God is with us on the journey and knows the path. He knows what we will encounter on the way, He knows every difficult situation life will present to us. When we walk with God, the road may not be as expected, but He calls us to trust that He is with us and knows the way ahead.

Reflect on the journey you are on with God and any obstacles you might be facing. Thank Him that He is with you every step of the way.

As you spend time in prayer ask God to help you understand when the journey isn’t as expected or the way ahead seems unclear.

Ask Him to help you if you have come across some difficulty in your walk with Him. You may feel you are at a crossroads in your life and don’t know which way to go, remember that God goes with you every step of the way. Trust in Him as your guide even when the way ahead is unknown or hidden or if the path seems uncertain or not how you expected.
